I. Airport area overview
1. Basic information
Located in Xiang’an District, Xiamen, the airport area covers a planned construction area of 51 square kilometers. In addition to the airport, it also includes the northern area of Dadeng, Xiang’an and the Caicuo-Lianhe area.
Centering on revitalizing the airport, strengthening the main industry, building the advantages, developing chains and promoting clusters in the area, we strive to build a modern, international and high-end airport industry system in Xiamen. With the airport economy as the engine of innovation and development, we will boost the development of new regional industrialization, informationization and urbanization, and establish a window for opening up of the Maritime Silk Road area and a foremost position for deepening reform and opening up, to enhance the important fulcrum role of Xiamen in the national strategy.
2. Terminal area
Xiamen Xiang’an new airport is positioned as an important international airport, regional hub airport, international cargo port airport and cross-strait exchange gateway airport in China. The movement area reference code is 4F with the runway in length of 3,800 meters, which is of the highest level in the world. The current project aims to achieve an annual throughput of 45 million passengers and cargo throughput of 750,000 tons by 2025. Two long-distance parallel runways and T1 terminal of 660,000 square meters will be built; the terminal will handle 85 million passengers and 2 million tons of cargo per year.
3. Traffic conditions
Two core networks of rapid transit and highway (expressway) will be actively constructed in the airport area. Metro Line 4 and Line 3 can directly reach the airport, and Intercity Metro Line R1 extends to serve the passenger flow of Xiamen-Zhangzhou-Quanzhou Intercity Metro. Xidong Road and Binhai Avenue connect the expressway network of “two rings and eight roads”, and airport expressway (Bayi Avenue) and Nanshi Highway connect the highway network, forming an airport collection and distribution system that separates fast lane from slow lane, and passenger from cargo, with a close connection of various modes of transportation.
II. Investment orientation
Emphasis will be laid on the construction of the industrial system of Xiamen Airport Economic Demonstration Zone with “three leading industries and nine key directions” in the airport area.
