Xiamen-built giant vessel sets sail for Europe

On July 10, the "Liaohekou," the first 7,500-car LNG dual-fuel auto carrier built by Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. and operated by a company under COSCO Shipping Group, a Fortune Global 500 company, set sail from Xiamen. It carried over 1,000 Chinese-branded vehicles and engineering machinery bound for Le Havre in France, Southampton in the UK, Zeebrugge in Belgium, and Bremerhaven in Germany. This marks the entry of China's auto ocean-going transport fleet into the "new energy era," supporting the accelerated global expansion of Chinese auto brands. The "Liaohekou" has a range of 12,000 nautical miles and uses a single-propeller dual-fuel hybrid system, capable of running entirely on liquefied natural gas or traditional fuel, offering both environmental benefits and flexibility. The vessel has 13 vehicle decks with 7,500 standard parking spaces, designed to carry passenger cars, trucks, engineering vehicles, and specialized vehicles.
