Xiamen accelerates construction of national marine economy demonstration zone
The Marine Innovation Industrial Park (Phase I), located within the Xiamen Marine High-Tech Industrial Park (referred to as the "Ocean Hi-Tech Park"), is expected to become operational within two years. Commencing construction on November 22, 2024, the project spans a total land area of approximately 81,906 square meters, with a gross floor area of 212,178 square meters. It includes 15 general-purpose factory buildings and ancillary facilities, representing a total investment of RMB 1 billion. Xiamen is intensifying efforts to advance high-quality development in its marine economy, accelerating the creation of a national marine economy demonstration zone that balances marine resource utilization and ecological protection. By the end of 2025, Xiamen aims to complete the first phase of the demonstration zone's construction, establishing and summarizing replicable and scalable exemplary practices. By 2035, the city plans to evolve into an internationally distinctive marine hub, and by 2050, to fully emerge as a globally competitive maritime metropolis.
