Shapowei is a community under the jurisdiction of Xiagang Sub-District Administration near the old fishing harbor. Its name is literally translated as "the tailend of the sandy slope" as it is located at the end of a long stretch of beach, and sand gets washed up here from all over the place.

Shapowei used to be dotted with varied sizes of docks. Now it has become a great place to find good food and interesting little shops. As Zengcuo'an is more of a neighborly and cozy kind of place, Shapowei presents a rather international and refreshing appearance.
